The series "Styles of Film Eras" follows a new film historical approach. While in art history or literary history a division into stylistic periods has long been established, this perspective is not yet common for the young art of film, even though it is quite compelling. Each volume begins with a detailed introduction that establishes the historical and film historical context; this is followed by in-depth articles on the major cinematic works of the stylistic period in chronological order, complete with extensive filmographic information. Numerous illustrations break up the text.
