Twelve-year-old Mila loves her dance group and her dog Made, and she despises the weekly, boring visits to her great-grandmother in the nursing home. One day there, she meets Jakub, who tells her about the Nazi era and Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Mila suddenly realizes how important it is to know where you come from and what happened in the past to avoid repeating the mistakes of history. As more and more refugees arrive in the village and are even housed in the school gym, hatred of foreigners becomes a pressing issue for Mila and her friends. Inspired by Bonhoeffer's words, Mila overcomes her fear, shows civil courage, and ultimately manages to bring different people together at one table.
