This commentary offers an accessible interpretation of the Letter to the Romans. It takes into account the latest findings in biblical scholarship but focuses on unlocking the message of this letter for readers. Difficult details are explained, and the connection to fundamental Old Testament statements and the messages of other New Testament writings is considered. The aim is to explain the letter as a whole, shaped by Paul's message of justification. This commentary is the first in the new series "The Message of the New Testament." The interpretation of all volumes is guided by two principles: 1. While the state of scholarly interpretation is fully integrated, the text of the commentary should be genuinely understandable. 2. Historical questions regarding the origin of each writing are taken into account.
