The work consists of two volumes, or six parts (Volume I consists of four parts, while Volume II contains two parts), which build upon each other but also interrelate. Volume I/1 includes a detailed introduction to the entire work and the first section of the historical part: a sketch of the religious situation of people in the environment of the first Christians, a depiction of Jesus' ministry under the sign of the "Kingdom of God," an elaboration of Jesus' proclamation and teachings, as well as the sending out of the twelve disciples as messengers of God's reign. Volume I/2 continues the historical retelling of Jesus' story: from his decision to go to Jerusalem for the Passover celebration to his death on the cross, the discovery of the empty tomb, and the appearances of the risen one, the acknowledgment of the mission to the Gentiles, and the one church made up of Jews and Gentiles. Volume I/3 addresses.
