If you were to ask me today whether I would pursue the profession of a professional hunter again, despite some terrible experiences, there would be no hesitation: I would act the same way again. As a professional hunter, Konrad Esterl managed magnificent state hunting grounds, and he was fortunate enough to repeatedly glimpse the secrets of nature, learn from it, and marvel at its wonders. In spring, he delighted in listening to the drumming of the capercaillie and the cheerful bubbling of the black grouse, engaged in many vocal contests with the old stags during the rutting season, and eagerly checked his "iron ties" for signs of predatory game. Often, he also had to take the long leash of his top-notch mountain tracking dogs in hand and follow a wounded animal through thick and thin to relieve it of its suffering when a shot didn't land where it normally would.
