Product details

Roman law has significantly shaped European legal culture. The language of jurists still predominantly uses Latin terms, and every beginner in this field must learn to cope with, understand, and apply the overwhelming flood of Latin terminology that comes their way. "Latin in Legal Language" contains a collection of the most important Latin terms, organized by subject areas and discussed in context. It serves as a study and reference work for law students, candidates for the qualification examination, as well as for practicing lawyers and Latin professors in high schools. The authors placed particular importance on going beyond a mere list of terms and vocabulary, aiming to imbue the terms with content to foster a genuine understanding of legal language. Both authors are affiliated with the Institute of Roman Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Salzburg.
