Product details

In the afternoon, the negotiations with the security service. We are dying now - oh, this is also in God's hands - we will go to our deaths together tonight. Above us, in these final hours, stands the image of the blessing Christ, who encircles us. In His presence, our lives come to an end. These are the last words of the writer and hymn poet Jochen Klepper, who chose to take his own life on December 10, 1942, together with his Jewish wife and daughter in a hopeless situation. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of his death, the renowned church musician Martin Rössler reflects on Klepper's tumultuous life and honors his groundbreaking contributions to spiritual song up to our time. Klepper's poems and songs are placed within the context of his biography and the events of the National Socialist era; thus, the reader gains insight into what moved Klepper and occupied him until his final moments.
