Various forms of nothingness and non-attachment permeate and resonate through all things as they concretely exist in the world: people leave us, we lose sight of things and events. Lights extinguish in the darkness. An opportunity does not return. A stone begins to roll, a leaf detaches from the tree. A hope is disappointed. A wound hurts. Or also: a light flashes. A dream comes true. An encounter repeats itself. A star falls. Non-attachment is neither merely null nor merely negative. It exists in the lifting and ceasing, in the other and the foreign, in being determined, in contrast and contradiction. It is in the distance and in the space in between, existing between the respective and in each individual itself. Non-attachment threatens and comforts, moves and interrupts, is in remembering and in forgetting. Where there is something, there is also non-attachment.
