Product details
For a long time regarded as a Catholic enthusiast who had accidentally wandered into the circles of the Dadaists, the life and work of Emmy Hennings remained completely unrecognized. In truth, she was a central figure of the literary bohemia before World War I; she inspired a diverse range of poets such as Jakob van Hoddis, Ferdinand Hardekopf, Erich Mühsam, and Johannes R. Becher, and was also a crowd favorite at the Zurich Cabaret Voltaire when she sang couplets or anti-war songs. In addition, Emmy Hennings wrote poems and prose texts, whose literary originality and emotional power have lost none of their intensity to this day. The volume presents the eventful life of Emmy Hennings through images and documents, includes a selection of original texts and life testimonies, and sheds light on her special relationship with Hermann Hesse.
