With a foreword by Tsoknyi Rinpoche and an introduction by Jack Kornfield. The teachings in this book are based on two extended meditation retreats. The instructors draw from their experiences in various Buddhist traditions. From the vast treasure of Buddhist practices, particularly relevant teachings are highlighted, while also countering sectarian forces through an attitude of mutual respect. These practices, found in both Mahamudra and Vipassana, have two complementary aspects that are essential for awakening, just as the two wings of a bird are necessary for flight. The first quality of mind training is wisdom – the realization of the ultimate nature of the mind and all things, liberated from deceptive and tormenting states of mind. The second aspect is great compassion, expressed through tireless loving actions for the benefit of all beings. These two form the common foundation of the meditation paths presented here.
