Princesses have a lot of spirit, especially when they don't want to marry. The princess turns up her nose at every suitor. So, the father decides to give her to the next best man. A minstrel is fortunate enough to take the princess away with him. He shows her his modest kingdom and encourages the young lady to cook and sell pots at the market. The princess is desperate and very upset. If only she had accepted the rich, albeit not very handsome, King whom she had disdainfully named King Drosselbart. The princess still has no idea that the minstrel is actually the disguised King Drosselbart, who wants to teach her a lesson.
