J. is a quite reality-oriented engineer in middle age. Suddenly, he sees macabre death faces in the expressions of people for fractions of a second. Clues accumulate that all these people will die in an accident. Is there really always truth behind his ability, and do the accidents actually happen? Discovering the answer becomes an obsession for J., leading him into some bizarre situations. He wants to see the person whose death face he sees also meet their demise. J. cannot resist the allure of becoming world-famous and unique with his abilities, as it could allow him to live out his bizarre fantasies. Through numerous deaths he has experienced, he believes he recognizes a pattern. A spiral. A death spiral that extends over strangers, acquaintances, friends, and ultimately over his family and himself.
