The young, professionally successful storyteller is suffering from the separation from her boyfriend Mark. Trapped in the confines of her apartment and her thoughts, she decides to travel. Without a plan, she sets off and ends up in a run-down, gloomy coastal town. A mysterious figure, who stands rooted at the pier in all weather, gazing out at the sea, piques her curiosity and prompts her to investigate. However, she encounters rejection, distrust, and secrecy from the villagers.
