The autobiographical part of this chronicle is an engagement with the father, the stepfather, and the mother. The author had to confront the realization that they were convinced National Socialists. Nevertheless, they were lovable people. It was not easy for her to write down this fact, which she had been aware of for a long time. She only consciously felt her mother's unspoken prohibition of freedom of expression as a student. The father had fallen in the war, so she could not question him; the stepfather had changed, and the mother was unteachable. Besides the theme of dealing with or not dealing with the Nazi era in her family, the author aims to depict the simplicity and strictness of life in the post-war years, as well as the joy and carefree nature of childhood and adolescence, for it is a great blessing not to know everything precisely.
