The literary historian Georg Andreas Will presents in this volume a comprehensive history of the Nuremberg Schembart runs, which were an important part of the Carnival traditions, especially in the 15th and early 16th centuries, until the festivities were brought to an end in 1539. To complement this, Will includes a section on the journeyman's jousting in Nuremberg. The work is illustrated with numerous images on ten plates. This is a carefully revised reprint of the original edition from 1765.
