Product details
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg's fame was established during his lifetime (1742-1799) not only through his literary writings but also through his scientific publications. He was one of the leading experimental physicists of his time, known for his meticulous care in setting up and conducting measurements and experiments. Among Lichtenberg's most important scientific works are four writings in Latin that made him internationally renowned. They include Lichtenberg's meteorological, astronomical, and color-theoretical comments on the works of his Göttingen teacher Tobias Mayer, as well as his experiments with electricity, which led to the discovery of "Lichtenberg figures." "Observationes" is bilingual (Latin-German) and includes a folded facsimile moon map from the 18th century.
