August Hermann Niemeyer (1754-1828) was not only a travel writer but also a Protestant theologian, educator, poet, and Prussian education politician. In 1796, he published the first systematic presentation of pedagogy in Germany, titled "Principles of Education and Instruction," which is regarded as a classic in the field of educational sciences. The observations from a journey to England consist of three parts in total; the work presented here is the first part of Niemeyer's writing. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1825.
