A fanatical call for moderation in Berlin in January 1967. A young person wants to make a statement. Eberhard Starusch, once the leader of the Stäuber gang in 'The Tin Drum' and now a teacher of German and history in West Berlin, is gathering material in 1967 about a Wehrmacht general who wants to retroactively win World War II in a sandbox. However, the current student revolt becomes increasingly pressing for Starusch. In response to the outraged cry of his favorite student, who wants to burn his dachshund on the Kurfürstendamm as a ritualized protest against the use of napalm in Vietnam, he counters with the sadness of his superior knowledge: Anyone who wants to radically change the world would first have to eliminate humanity. A dental treatment becomes a symbol of the only possible progress for Starusch: fictional dialogues with his dentist reveal that there is only local anesthesia available.
