MEA CULPA is a self-accusation that an old-school altar boy utters while kneeling with a bowed head. In remembrance of this kneeling, which he practiced with devotion in his childhood, the author creates a timely painting against the backdrop of historical developments since World War II, current migration debates, and discussions about Islam as part of our culture, focusing on today's European society.
