The main character, Hans Giesen, grew up in a Catholic small town during the post-war period. At the age of 56, his professional life confronts him with the unfamiliar value system of young managers. Instead of the "poverty, humility, chastity" of his youth, he now faces bonuses, jobs, networking, buddies, and other English terms. Amidst this unknown environment, Hans Giesen is on the verge of breaking down. He must find his own way out of dead ends. This novella gives him two months to do so.
