Friedrich Barth studied mathematics and physics for teaching at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich after graduating from high school. He then taught at the Gisela Gymnasium in Munich. In addition to his role as a lecturer for mathematics didactics at LMU Munich, he worked as a seminar teacher for mathematics and in teacher training. For ten years, he was on the board of the MNU association, promoting mathematics and science education. A number of journal articles and textbooks on mathematics accompanied his teaching activities.

Rudolf Haller studied mathematics and physics for teaching at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich after graduating from high school, supplemented by study visits to universities in Salamanca and Pavia, as well as the Sorbonne in Paris. He then taught at high schools in Munich, as well as at German schools in Paris and Tokyo, and served as a school principal in Valparaíso, Chile. Most recently, he was the head of a high school in Munich. He also contributed to teacher training through lectures. His work includes essays on mathematics in books and journals, as well as contributions to textbooks. He has a particular interest in the history of mathematics and the calculating masters of the early modern period.
