"Oligopoly Dynamics" is a comprehensive collection of contributions that emerged from a conference at the Centre for Regional Science (CERUM) at Umeå University in Sweden. This conference took place on June 17 and 18, 2001, and offers a coherent and independent presentation of invited papers on specific topics in oligopoly theory. The editors and authors have ensured that the content is not only of interest to researchers but can also serve as teaching material for courses in industrial organization. At the beginning of the book, two chapters on the history of oligopoly theory are presented, ranging from the beginnings with Cournot in 1838 to the modern analysis of iterated discrete time maps. Unlike the conventional literature on games and oligopolies, this book focuses on evolutionary dynamics, including deterministic chaos, thus providing an innovative perspective on the subject.
