In news selection, there is a factor that has been largely overlooked by science - the factor of "organization." The organizational aspect influences the choice of topics. It often determines the nature and extent of the reporting. However, the organizational processes occur behind the scenes and are therefore mostly hidden from outsiders. Claus-Erich Boetzkes is a moderator at Tagesschau. He has been able to observe and analyze the inner workings of a TV news editorial team. In his publication, he demonstrates that organization is a distinct news factor. The theory of news value needs to be supplemented with this aspect. The work is based on the Ilmenau approach by Paul Klimsa and is part of a research project at TU Ilmenau.
