The book documents insights into organizing that were gained from the empirical analysis of a case study on the hybrid event World Youth Day. It seeks to clarify the following questions: What precedes organizing and how does it shape the subsequent process for the organizers? What structures are the actors involved in organizing integrated into, and how do they transform these structures in a micropolitical manner? What goals and purposes guide their actions, and how do these relate to externally imposed and higher-level objectives? How do the actors engaged in organizing shape the process in practice, and what forms of collaboration do they develop? This case serves as the material basis for a theoretical determination of organizing, which in turn serves as an essential foundation for defining related competencies.
