Product details
In 1861, Dr. Theodor Schuchardt undertook a journey to several Oriental countries that were still completely unknown to the German population at the time. At the urging of friends and patrons, Schuchardt wrote the present work, which is based on his detailed travel diary entries. The journey begins with the crossing from the Italian port city of Trieste to Alexandria, continuing through Cairo to Constantinople. The author encourages the reader to travel themselves and form their own impressions. His notes serve as a guide to getting to know a great deal about the Orient in a short time and for little money. This is a carefully edited reprint of the original edition from 1864.
