Ottjen Alldag 02
German, Georg Droste, 2013Product details
What was it like to live in Bremen in the 19th century? In the middle of his three "Ottjen Alldag" novels, author Georg Droste paints vivid pictures of that time. With precise language, he combines factual reports with amusing anecdotes. Drawing from his own experience, Droste narrates the typical life in a North German trading metropolis. Ottjen Alldag's apprenticeship as a merchant offers exciting insights into various professions as well as the social conditions of the city of Bremen. The special feature of this volume is the High German translation, as "Ottjen Alldag un sien Lehrtied" has only been published in its Low German original version since 1915. Rita Schloendorff has now sensitively translated the second volume as well.
