Rita Charon is a general practitioner and literary scholar at Columbia University, where she founded the field of narrative medicine and directs the narrative medicine program. She researches, publishes, and gives extensive lectures on the relationship between narrative knowledge and the care of patients. Edgar Rivera Colón, Ph.D., teaches in the narrative medicine program at Columbia University. Dr. Rivera Colón is an anthropologist specializing in sexuality and gender. For the past fifteen years, he has conducted ethnographic research on the House Ball community in New York City. Sayantani DasGupta teaches in the MS program for narrative medicine at Columbia University as well as at the Center for Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia. She is also a co-chair of the University Seminar in Narrative, Health, and Social Justice at Columbia.
