Treating couples with schema therapy is new but successful. This is because schema therapy can address issues that are largely ignored by traditional cognitive behavioral therapy. These include dysfunctional behavior patterns in relationships or the transformation of distressing childhood memories that burden couple relationships. The authors apply the principles of schema therapy in the form of effective interventions to the relationships between people and the work with couples.
