Educational institutions and pedagogical communal living arrangements represent a largely overlooked area of support for the upbringing of adolescents. This volume presents the results of a research project. It describes the life paths of former recipients of support from educational institutions. The biographical reconstructions are complemented by insights into everyday pedagogical practice and data on the framework conditions of educational institutions and pedagogical communal living arrangements. The findings enhance the understanding of the pedagogy of support for upbringing and advocate for considering alternatives to closed accommodation forms for children and adolescents.
