The traditionally transmitted forms of karate, the kata, encompass all facets of karate training. However, this knowledge becomes fully accessible only when the kata are analyzed in a way that takes into account the worldview of the people who created them long ago. This means considering their religious beliefs, their knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, their understanding of the flow of Ki (Qi), and much more. Based on over 40 years of personal practice and teaching experience, as well as extensive research, the author successfully demonstrates through numerous practical examples and original analyses how it is possible to decode the kata so that the karate practitioner can gain a wealth of applicable knowledge. Only with such knowledge can karate return to being the genuine and highly effective martial art it once was.
