Roland Habersetzer aims to open up perspectives for the experienced karate practitioner with his work, allowing them to pursue karate as a lifelong journey while progressing through the three classical stages of development (Shu-Ha-Ri) from student to master. For the author, Karatedô means learning to fight by activating the inner energy (Ki) that exists within every being but often remains hidden. After a section on tradition and karate, the first part of the book addresses central themes such as activating the power of the Hara, Kime, and mastering distance in free fighting, as well as various defensive techniques, including double-effect defense. The second part covers combat strategies, demonstrating how to use passive and active behavior to set traps for the attacker and what means of deception are available.
