A blind man led the way!
Anyone who loves Marvel's heroes cannot overlook Daredevil. For many years, the devilish character from Hell’s Kitchen has been a guarantee of visionary American comic art. It wasn't always like this. By the late 1970s, the series featuring the blind lawyer was in crisis. Even by the standards of the time, the stories and adversaries were quite bizarre. The title was on the verge of cancellation when a young, rising artist threw his hat into the ring. Until then, Frank Miller had primarily illustrated covers or worked as a fill-in artist. Now, for the first time, he was entrusted with his own series. Inker Klaus Janson had been on board, with interruptions, since 1975. Together with writer Roger McKenzie, they explored Matt Murdock's roots and brought investigative journalist Ben Urich and Daredevil's greatest foe into the spotlight: Bullseye, a cold-blooded killer who never misses his target.
But that was just the prelude to perhaps the most exciting transformation in Marvel history. Things got truly serious and dark when Miller also took over the writing. Hell’s Kitchen, the rough neighborhood of Irish immigrants where he had lived, served as a grim backdrop. To kick things off, Miller and Janson introduced Murdock's childhood love Elektra, shortly thereafter his mentor Stick, and the Hand ninjas. Crime lord Wilson Fisk, actually Spider-Man's arch-nemesis, became a brilliant antagonist alongside Bullseye. As Miller ventured into new territory, he transformed a dilapidated vessel into a proud flagship.
This collection takes you back to a past, more innocent time. The US comic was in a kind of search phase and was hesitant.
