Author: Geert Mak Geert Mak, born in 1946, is one of the most renowned Dutch publicists and one of the most important non-fiction authors in the country. His recent works published by Pantheon include "In Europe" (2007), "The Bridge of Istanbul" (2007), "What If Europe Fails" (2012), and "How God Disappeared from Jorwerd" (2014). For his work, Geert Mak received the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding in 2008. Translation: Andreas Ecke Andreas Ecke studied German, Dutch studies, and musicology. He translates literature from Dutch, including works by Gerbrand Bakker, Ernest van der Kwast, Anne-Gine Goemans, and Cees Nooteboom. In 2016, he received the European Translator Award.
