What should students be able to do after completing their architecture studies? This question was at the center of the first symposium on architectural education at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in spring 2016. Educators, academics, practitioners, and students came together to discuss attitudes, ideas, and content of architectural training. The contributions provided insights into the well-functioning, internationally recognized Swiss educational model, but also questioned its fundamental principles: What do future job profiles for architects look like in relation to today's reality, and how are these reflected in universities, in the didactic formats, and in the competencies of students and educators? The roundtable discussions featured in this book offer a glimpse into the dynamics of conversation and illustrate how different interests emerge from the discourse.
