Global climate change is a widely and controversially discussed topic. Aside from natural disasters, which are interpreted differently depending on interests, it remains an elusive phenomenon. The experiment of a climate garden makes its effects concretely tangible: it reveals which plants can grow in a location in the future, what we will eat, and how our gardens might look, for example. This research is based on detailed climate scenarios that can be applied to specific geographic locations. This handbook demonstrates how such a public experiment can be implemented worldwide at regional and local levels. Texts from human geographers, art historians, and ecologists are complemented by a practical guide to creating such a climate garden, detailing all the necessary steps. Municipalities and institutions are provided with support to tell their own unique stories, thereby establishing a personal, emotional connection to the often very abstract global climate models.
