Product details

Many buildings from the 1970s and 1980s are hardly noticed in our surroundings. However, when we consciously consider the architecture of these decades as part of our everyday culture, we can glean much from it and discover the unexpected. Beneath the patina of past years, one can suspect once-vibrant elements and something that may feel bold, even daring, in contrast to the solid and clear construction styles of the 1950s and 1960s. The buildings from those decades will reach an age in the coming years where it will be decided whether they will be demolished or renovated. How should we deal with a generation of buildings that many consider architecturally lost? Photographer Christian Flierl seeks out distinctive, lesser-known buildings from this architectural era and gives them new presence in his images. Ulrike Jehle-Schulte Strathaus.
