Product details

George Nelson (1908-1986) is one of the most significant American designers of the second half of the 20th century. Design enthusiasts are particularly familiar with his iconic product designs: such as the Ball Clock (1948), the Bubble Lamps (1952), the Marshmallow Sofa (1956), and the Action Office (1964). Nelson's work as chief designer for the American furniture manufacturer Herman Miller has become part of American cultural history. Much less known, however, is that George Nelson served as an exhibition manager and designer for the American government from 1957 to 1972, conceptualizing product presentations, thematic exhibitions, and trade show appearances around the world—essentially showcasing the American lifestyle. This sensationally illustrated monograph now presents the lesser-known side of Nelson's work in detail for the first time. Jochen Eisenbrand, chief curator of the Vit.
