For around four decades, Dietmar Steiner has been both an observer and a participant in the international architectural discourse. His retrospective on architecture since the 1960s is informed by countless travels and encounters with international architects, his active role as a critic and historian in the fields of architecture and urban planning, extensive research for articles, exhibitions, and symposia, as well as his work as a consultant, juror, and member of various advisory boards and committees. His perspective is both critically distanced and personally engaged. This book gathers not only articles, interviews, and background narratives published in various specialized and daily media but also previously unpublished texts. It also includes summaries of the lectures the author delivered at the University of Art and Design Linz in 2015.
