The Superblock is the work of the architecture firm Krischanitz, which emerged as the winner from the planning competition for the repurposing of the former industrial buildings on the Sulzer site in Winterthur. The development continues an urban scale and thus a spatial structure that originates from the existing form of the industrial area. Composed of existing and new building sections and open spaces, the Superblock houses the city administration of Winterthur, offices of AXA Winterthur, as well as residential units. The newly created courtyard serves as the central element and programmatic focus. Also integrated into the project is the preserved founder's house of the Sulzer company from 1834. This building monograph comprehensively documents the Superblock. Photographs, numerous plans, and drawings narrate the development of the area into the current building complex.
