The Aargau architect and civil engineer Walter Zschokke (1948-2009), who lived in Vienna from 1985 until his early death as a designer, author, and curator, was and remains an incorruptible observer of European architecture and construction developments over the past decades. His medium for conveying architecture was his well-articulated, thoughtful language, which not only served as his most important tool in his work as a publicist but also distinguished him as a juror, contributor to design projects, and expert. Zschokke published numerous books and also wrote architecture-critical texts, the relevance of which remains undiminished - including for the daily newspaper "Die Presse" and for "Werk, Bauen + Wohnen." This is the first collection of Zschokke's texts. It presents a selection from the diversity of his brilliant analyses, supplemented by previously unpublished works and essays.
