Product details

Since its inception, the NSDAP vehemently rejected parliamentarism as a form of government. Nevertheless, the National Socialists participated in the Reichstag elections of the Weimar Republic from 1924 for tactical reasons, as "to conquer the Reichstag" meant nothing less than "to conquer state power." This goal came closer with each new election; the "parliamentary arm of the movement" transformed within a few years from an insignificant group of representatives into by far the largest faction, significantly shaping the parliamentary everyday life in the Wallot Building. In his study, which is directly based on primary sources, the author not only traces the unprecedented rise of the National Socialists in the Reichstag of the Weimar Republic but also highlights their parliamentary activities across all relevant areas of politics. Thus, this is the first comprehensive and well-founded presentation on the subject.
