Heike Walk addresses three current topics in political science research: the debate on participation and governance, as well as climate policy. The author examines the democratic theoretical relevance of governance processes and outlines the diverse forms of participation by non-state actors at various levels of climate policy. The central thesis is that effective climate protection cannot be achieved solely through extensive public outreach and information policies, but also requires the broad involvement and participation of large segments of the population.
