Product details

The attacks on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and the Jewish supermarket in Paris caused shock and grief. However, shortly thereafter, some began to question whether Charlie Hebdo had perhaps gone too far. Too far with what? Did the victims in the Jewish supermarket also go too far? The recent attacks on November 13, 2015, in Paris have shown us: Muslim extremists are not provoked by cartoons; it is the hatred of the free pluralistic society, of our way of life, that drives them to their actions. The attack on the editorial office of Charlie Hebdo was the saddest culmination of the assaults on freedom of expression carried out in the name of Mohammed or God, which began a quarter of a century ago with the fatwa against Salman Rushdie and the subsequent acts of terrorism. Charlie Hebdo does not exempt Islam from criticism and satire either.
