Product details
The artist's book documents the process of layering painting developed by Christina Zurfluh, which she consistently pursued between 1996 and 2012. Thus, this book can also be seen as an archive of her work during this period. Christina Zurfluh's paintings consist of between 50 and 60 layers. She records the color of each layer and marks them with numbers. This allows her to locate the colors and bring them out from the background in a later step. These records can be read as a code that supports the painting process, while also serving as drawings or paintings that embody and address the process itself. The artist's book presents a very personal view of Zurfluh's working method, providing insight not only into the layering technique she developed but also into her entire artistic oeuvre.
