Michel Foucault reconsidered his approach and issues as his work evolved, repeatedly breaking away from his own paradigms and concepts. Could his work perhaps be seen as a series of breaks and unexpected turns? Foucault engaged in political movements that he later questioned. He claimed to be a "structuralist," only to deny it shortly thereafter. He sometimes mocked his own works and took a counterposition to himself with each new project. This aligns with his explanation of what it means to be creative: for him, creative work was inseparably linked to the will to distance oneself from oneself.
