Product details

What does a soul desire that does not crave out of lack, but rather in consideration of its possessions, and calls this desire justice? What then is justice, and what is political? In the Republic, Plato develops a theory of the political that starts from the premise that the soul seeks to grasp more to have and to want. This disposition of desire evokes the search for what dynamic justice could be. Justice can hardly be understood as merely idealistic or pragmatic. Rather, it can unfold effects as a libidinous-political force. According to Plato, it must primarily prove itself against something incredible: gender justice as the epitome of ethics, plurality, and cultural development. Does desire possess the capacity to bring forth a common humanity? Plato's text can be seen as a conceptual alternative to P.
