Peter Rech's new book titled "The Abused" deals with the image of the virgin Madonna in religious art. The author focuses on the charming portrayal of the Mother of God in the tradition of Catholic iconography through lyrical text fragments. As in his last two books, this time the author also centers on the abuse of images in his lyrically dense language. He approaches this from different perspectives and contexts of meaning, with the psychoanalytic viewpoint playing a central role. Rech establishes linguistic connections to the everyday abuse of images as it prevails in the digital world of the internet.
