In this essay, Jean-Luc Nancy explores the genre of "drawing" in its aesthetic and philosophical significance. Going beyond artistic expression, he recognizes the emergence of form as an aimless idea that strives for infinity. The immediacy and apparent simplicity of drawing serve as the starting point for Jean-Luc Nancy's fundamental considerations on creative practice. He connects the relationship between idea and creative gesture with the question of pleasure and desire, leading him to remarkable conclusions about the intersections of aesthetic pleasure and sexual enjoyment. The text is complemented by a sketchbook that gathers quotes from Leonardo da Vinci to Eugène Delacroix, from Jacques Derrida to Georg Baselitz.
