Patients who are ill and/or obese often need to be rescued by the fire department using aerial rescue vehicles or brought down from upper floors to the ground, especially when using the stairwell is not possible. A special stretcher positioning is primarily used for this purpose, but drag baskets or heavy-duty stretchers are also employed. The book describes the operational possibilities and limitations of stretcher positioning, the operational process from the perspective of the fire department and emergency services, as well as the operational tactics.
