The first volume of the collected works contains the early psychiatric studies of C. G. Jung from the time of his training and work at the Psychiatric University Clinic Burghölzli in Zurich at the beginning of the century. There, Jung found a sympathetic supporter of his research and insights in Eugen Bleuler. At the forefront is Jung's dissertation "On the Psychology and Pathology of So-Called Occult Phenomena" (1902), in which many ideas that later appeared in his work are already evident. Therefore, it is of particular importance for anyone who wishes to seriously study Jung's work and his life's work. Jung already recognized at that time that such phenomena are dynamic manifestations of the soul, for whose interpretation a purely classificatory approach was no longer sufficient. The further case studies collected in this volume illustrate the path and method to their understanding. The significant images that originate from the soul bear the marks of the unique and extraordinary as ultimately individual, human experiences.
